RPG Roller - The name says what it does, and it does what it says. RPG Roller is not a toy. It’s simply the best, most powerful gamer’s tool for rolling polyhedra dice there is. No flashy, unnecessary graphics, no cute sounds, no gimmicks. Just a set of powerful features designed to let you roll dice however you need to roll them.

RPG Roller provides a number of convenient ways to quickly roll dice without any messing around, and a wide arsenal of features:

* Powerful formulas: A feature-packed die rolling formula system, including keeping or re-rolling high/low rolls, dice with any number of sides, the ability to roll different kinds of dice at once, repeating rolls, roll threshold counts, exploding dice, imploding dice, Fudge dice, WoD 10-again rolls, and more. You can even define your own dice with whatever value you want on each side.

* Quick buttons: With just a single button press you can roll 10 six-sided dice to compute damage from a fireball spell, or 5 eight-sided dice to roll hit points for a random monster.

* Hot buttons: Define any number of your own color-coded buttons, using whatever title and formula you want. Save multiple hot button setups in profiles and switch between them at will. Backups of your hot buttons are optionally stored in iCloud and shared across all of your devices. You can even email your hot buttons to your friends!

* Roll History: Look back on previous roll results, with formula and each individual die roll (up to even a thousand dice).

* Formula History: Access previously used formulas, so you don’t have to type them in again.

* Roll Bar: At the top of every page is a bar with a formula box, a roll button, and roll result area. There is a drop-down tray to view full results which hides when you don’t want it.

* Random number generator: RPG Roller offers the best random number generation of any dice app, utilizing system events, accelerometer changes and other unpredictable data sources to stir the cryptographic quality random number pool. A rejection sampling method is used to avoid the pitfalls of modulo math that commonly affect other dice rolling applications.

* Other useful features, such as a formula composer, an animated roll distribution plot, shake-to-roll, VoiceOver support, button zoom for fat fingers, and more.

* Free: Perhaps the best feature of all is that it’s free. This is not adware, and there’s no crippled functionality, requiring you to buy the full version for the features you really care about. RPG Roller is free and fully functional out of the box, with no strings attached.

Pros and cons of RPG Roller app for iPhone and iPad

RPG Roller app good for

Its nearly useless in RPG, as it has no Sound! Gamemaster may not believe that you did Roll the dice :(
Best RPG-dice-roller Ive seen so far with plenty of features. I use it for all kinds of RPG-systems, thanks to the hot buttons which are easy to create and edit.
Worth the price. Use it for everything from pathfinder to warmachine.
This app does exactly what it claims. It is not fancy/flashy dice rolling eye candy. It is a very powerful mechanism to perform one or multiple dice rolls with formulas defining the final result. If you are more interested in playing your RPG (or whatever requires the dice rolls) than watching a dice rolling app, this is what you want. My one "complaint" was received enthusiastically by the developer and dealt with in the 1.1.3 release.
#1: Seems to crash a lot for some reason. But it loads fast, so its mostly just annoying. #2: Needs some more mechanics. Its not easily usable with the World of Darkness games, for example, as RPG Rollers explosion mechanics dont work for it. The WoD mechanic is called #-again (10 again, 9 again, 8 again). WoD uses a threshold system, rolling a number of d10 and counting 8+ as successes. On most rolls the 10-again rule applies, so any 10s are counted as successes, and then re-rolled as an extra die for the roll. If you get more 10s, you can get more re-rolls. (Example, 4d10 rolled, 1/4/8/10 - you get 2 successes, you then reroll the 10, getting 9 for a total of 3 successes) I know theres at least one threshold system where the 10s counted as two successes rather than rerolling them in any way, but I cant recall the game. #3: The tray cant be set to stay visible for a longer period of time (important if you have to do something the formula cant handle) #4: It would help if the numbers in the tray could be displayed in numerical order - makes it much easier to see if youve botched in certain systems --- Very feature-rich overall, and likely perfect for a great many games, but its easier to just use dice for certain popular games, due to the missing mechanics.
This is one of the best ones out there. My only request would be to add a feature that allows the number after the modifier (plus, minus, or whatever) to be added only once, and not to each dice. For example, when you write 2d6+5, many RPGs assume that means a numerical range of 7-17, but with this roller its actually a range of 12-22 because the +5 is being added to each die. If there were a way to toggle or change so that the post-modifier number was only added once no matter how many dice were rolled, this would be hands-down the best, most powerful roller available and Id easily pay 10+ dollars for it. UPDATE: Nevermind, I found out the app DOES have this feature! You just need to put spaces before and after the modifier. Thus, 2d6+5 is roll two six sided dice and add five to each, while 2d6 + 5 is roll two six sided dice and add five to the total. This could be stated more clearly in the help section, but thats my only complaint. Amazing app all around.

Some bad moments

Very bland interface and the formulas Are very buggy, not to mention it crashes randomly.
Im thrilled to have found this application. Its adaptable and easy to use, emphasis on adaptable. I can use this application on multiple game systems anytime I need to.
Love the setup and advanced formulas, but force close is a big issue. If it didnt restart so quickly I would have uninstalled already.
Amazing app makes my pen and paper games to much easyer specially sence I need to use so meany dice for just one character
It is a nice system but crashes often. Starts to get very irritating very quickly.
I love that you can put formulas in so you can make your attacks a single button press. Extremely useful and worth getting.
